Day Five: Action at Home!
By: Ali Nevarez Valdez
Today we woke up at 6 in the morning and ate breakfast. Then after a while, we went to the Turtle Sanctuary to meet up with Sonal to come up with a project to do back at home. We decided to bring care packages to the homeless in the 2017-18 school year.
After that we made a quick stop at La Choza Chula to be able to answer a few survey questions they wanted as feedback. Then we went to another family’s home to eat lunch and had free time the rest of the day.
While we were at the beach, I felt happy knowing that I was surrounded by amazing friends. It reminded me of the time I went to a Summer Camp and swam in a lake with some of my older friends. In my life, there are not many beautiful moments I can share with my friends outside of school, so I really appreciate the fact that I got a chance to spend a whole week with friends and have many unforgettable experiences.
I will be bringing the experience back with me by being a global citizen and helping out with the care package project that will happen next year.
